Bar Grating Platform

The steel grating platform, referred to as bar grating platform, is a widely used product in high-rise steel structure buildings such as modern oil refineries, chemical plants, power plants, and port constructions. By laying customized processed steel grating plates on the steel structure platform and fixing them to the steel structure through welding, special fixtures, or shooting nails, it offers outstanding advantages such as high load-bearing capacity, easy and quick installation, and excellent corrosion resistance in the case of hot-dip galvanized steel grating plates.

The characteristics of bar grating platform

  • Large dimensions, primarily to accommodate the design of steel structure trusses.
  • Strong load-bearing capacity, due to the large size of individual steel gratings and the requirement to support heavy mechanical equipment frequently placed on the steel grating platform.
  • Various usage patterns, necessitating the processing of customized irregular steel grating plates to adapt to special positional changes in steel structures and equipment. The main application types of platform steel grating plates include steel grating flooring, serrated anti-slip steel grating stair treads, fan-shaped steel grating plates, and steel grating plates with special edge and corner treatments.

The special fabrication techniques for hot-dip galvanized bar grating platform

  • Additional welding of kick plates (side plates), checkered plate guards, and installation connectors around the steel grating plates.
  • The use of edge materials of different specifications or types from the load-bearing flat steel grating, such as flat steel, angle steel, channel steel, or square tube.
  • Installation of handles and hinges on platform steel grating plates that require frequent movement or opening to facilitate opening and closing.

Hot-dip galvanized steel grating plates are suitable for walkways and stair treads in various steel structure platforms. Customized processed steel gratings can adapt to structural changes in different positions, making them a new type of construction material.

I. Bar grating platform fabrication method

Pressure-welded steel grating plates are formed by arranging load-bearing flat steel and crossbars at certain intervals and welding them together using a 200-ton hydraulic resistance welding automation equipment. The original plates are then processed according to customer requirements through cutting, perforation, edging, and other procedures.

II. Surface treatment of bar grating platform

Hot-dip galvanizing, cold galvanizing, painting, or no surface treatment. The difference between hot-dip galvanizing and cold galvanizing lies in the thickness of the galvanized layer. Hot-dip galvanizing provides better corrosion resistance and oxidation protection than cold galvanizing due to its thicker galvanized layer. Generally, hot-dip galvanizing is more commonly used or direct use of stainless steel as raw material for stronger corrosion resistance, although it comes at a higher cost and is not recommended for general use.

III. Packaging methods for bar grating platform

There are generally three packaging methods:

Bundle packaging using straps, usually suitable for neatly arranged steel grating plates.

Screw rod fixation, using four screw rods passed through the apertures of the steel grating plates and secured with screws.

Palletization, typically used for export packaging.

IV. Brief introduction to bar grating platform labeling methods and common specifications

Center distance of flat steel in steel grating plates: Different series are distinguished: Series 1 is 30mm, Series 2 is 40mm, and Series 3 is 60mm.

Center distance of crossbars in steel grating plates: Series 1 is 100mm, Series 2 is 50mm. Other specifications can be customized.

Flat steel in steel grating plates: Made of Q235A or stainless steel, available in plain surface type, serrated tooth type, and section I type. Common specifications include 205, 255, 253, 325, 325, 405, 403, 505, 655, 756, 1008, 10010, etc.

Crossbars in steel grating plates: Made of Q235A or 304 stainless steel, they can be round steel, twisted square steel, square steel, or hexagonal steel. Twisted square steel is formed by twisting a round billet into a square shape, and its common specifications include 55, 66, 8*8mm, etc.

V. Applications of bar grating platform

They are widely used in platforms, walkways, wharves, trench covers, well covers, ladders, fences, guardrails, and other fields, including petroleum and chemical industries, power plants, water plants, sewage treatment plants, municipal engineering, and environmental sanitation engineering.
